Dicyandiamide, abbreviated as DICY or DCD, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₂H₄N₄. Dicyandiamide is a dimer of cyanamide andalso a cyano derivative of guanidine.  Dicyandiamide is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water, alcohol, ethylene glycol and dimethylformamide, and practically insoluble in ether and benzene. Dicyandiamide is non-flammable and is stable when dry.
